Frequently Asked Questions

I want to join your classes, can I just book on?

Ballet & Tap: We learn new routines each month in Ballet and Tap, so we recommend beginning these classes at the start of a month. If you are unsure, then please send an email to offbeatdance@outlook.com, and we can advise the best week for you to start.

Commercial & Heels: For these classes, we learn dances more regularly, usually every two weeks. We advise you contact us, if you want to join these classes. If you are more advanced, you are welcome to join us any week, and catch up on the choreography previously learnt.

Musical Theatre: We learn a new routine every week currently! Feel free to join us whenever!

If I book a 4/10 class pass, how do I use it?

To buy a pass, you need an account. Once you have bought the pass, you can go onto book any of the classes you want. When you go to check out, the payment box should read class pass, and the total should be £0.00. If you are having problems, please email offbeatdance@outlook.com

Can I cancel a class I have booked?

Classes can be cancelled up to 24 hours before. If you are PAYG, this will be refunded for you. If you have a passes, this will then be added back to your account to be used in future.

What are the different passes?

As our classes are different lengths we have two different genres of passes, ballet & tap OR heels, commerical and MT. If you buy a ballet/tap pass, you can use it for any ballet or tap classes.

If you buy a heels/commercial/MT pass, then you can use it for any of these classes.

What shall I wear?

Wear any clothes you feel happy moving in, in Winter the room can be cold, so please layer up and in summer it can be quite hot! For commercial and heels, feel free to wear something that makes you feel confident and empowered.

Do I need special shoes?

For tap, we recommend getting tap shoes, you are welcome to try a class in trainers first, but we usually find most students prefer to wear tap shoes as they don't stick to the floor like trainers do.

For ballet, it is preferable to wear ballet shoes, however barefoot is also fine. We ask students not to wear socks, the room can be quite slippy if you are wearing socks to dance in.

For heels, you can wear any type of heels, dance stilettos are the best, but for new starters, you are welcome to wear a block heels too. Additionally, trainers are fine until you feel comfortable for heels.

For commercial, you only need to wear trainers!

For musical theatre outside shoes are not permitted in the studio, please bring dance shoes or barefoot.

Where are the classes?

Monday and Wednesday Classes are at the Friary Grange Leisure Centre and Fridays are at Deanslade Fitness.

Where do I go at the Friary Grange Leisure Centre?

Our classes take place in the Ivy Room, if you know where that is great, head there! If not, ask at reception for them to direct you. We recommend asking for the Ivy Room instead of dance classes, as sometimes they will direct you to the dance studio instead.

Where do I go at Deanslade Fitness,

To get to Deanslade Barn, please drive up a small track between the new houses being built. There are car park spaces located around the Barn.

Where can I park?

Friary Grange Leisure Centre has free parking outside, this can get quite busy, if there are no available spaces, head straight over the roundabout and go left towards the school, you can also park in this car park.
